After 8 years, Practical Audacity is closing its doors.
It has been our honor to walk beside you on your path to healing, your path back to yourself, and during this moment in history. Thank you for receiving care, as sometimes letting yourself be supported is one of the hardest jobs there is.
When a friend tells me they are going through a major transition that involves an ending (like a divorce), my response is always the same: I’m sorry and congratulations. While there is loss with every ending, there is also the creation of space for something new. And that is worth celebrating.
Transparently, this ending is largely due to current financial realities (like inflation, insurance reimbursement rates that have not significantly risen in over 10 years, and the rise of AI “therapists” and companies like Better Help impacting our practice and costs), creating untenable conditions to provide the support and work/life balance our team needs and the financial foundation Practical Audacity needs to survive and thrive. So, now is the time to bless and release what is no longer working.
It is also because it is time to create space for new things, both for myself and for our team. When I started Practical Audacity in 2018, it was because there was a need. There were no other group practices in Chicago specifically working at the intersection of gender and sex therapy, and no LGBTQ-Focused group practices on the West Side of Chicago. That has changed, and I’m so grateful for that.
I wish you all the best in your continued healing journey. I wish you peace in a tumultuous time so that we can be well-resourced to go out and create the world we want to live in.
